The article is about a group the believes eliminating the ability of law abiding citizens to carry firearms, either open or concealed, in a public establishment, Starbucks, will make the world a safer place. I have tried several times to understand how this logic makes sense and I can't. All this does is takes away my ability to protect myself and the people around me. What is going to stop a criminal from carrying their firearm or stop them from using it in a public place where they know that all the LAW ABIDING CITIZENS aren't able to carry because they obey the law? The group calling for this action to be taken towards Starbucks is the National Gun Victim's Action Council (NGAC). Please understand that I have great sympathy towards those affected by gun violence. It is something that I hope I never have to experience beyond what I have already encountered and is something that I hope and pray none of my loved ones ever have to experience, but in my mind I still don't understand how having a law abiding citizen carrying a firearm "significantly increases everyone's risk of being a victim of gun violence".
Further more the way that they are going about forcing their opinions and beliefs is despicable. To punish a business because they allow American citizens to openly exercise their second amendment rights is shameful. It is a sad day when the opinions of the few rule and dictate the lifestyles and abilities of others. Why do we as Americans who have been blessed with the ability of free thought and action submit to the will of others? At what point do we say enough is enough and draw the line, and further more stand behind our views? I don't expect everyone to agree with my opinion, and I encourage others to form their own opinion, but please DO NOT force your opinion on me. DO NOT attempt to take away my liberties because you don't agree with them.
I am Pro second amendment. I believe that every LAW ABIDING CITIZEN should have the RIGHT, if they so chose to exercise it, to carry a firearm. I believe that the actions of the minority(criminals) should not be held against the majority(non-criminals). I will forever support business that allow and encourage their patrons to exercise their rights. I will not support and will voice MY OPINION against those that infringe on my rights. I will not tell others that they are wrong for supporting any business, but I will not participate.
I would hope that if you feel the way I do about your rights that you will join with me in encouraging Starbucks and other business' to not give into the demands of the few and let each person decide for themselves what rights they can and cannot exercise freely.
These are my views, opinions, and beliefs. Take them for what they are.
As promised here is the link to the original article that I read.
Well I know for a fact that there are some good items at Starbucks that are do not have coffee. If I find I have a little bit of extra money, I might stop by and grab a strawberry creme-based frappachino.
